Book your visit to the Necropolis
Book your unique experience at Saint Peter's Necropolis. Choose the day and your ideal time to discover the captivating beauty of the Roman necropolis, and the booking office will confirm your visit possibility
The visit to the necropolis beneath the basilica, where the Tomb of Saint Peter is located, is a special privilege granted by the Fabbrica di San Pietro on a case-by-case basis, according to a designated schedule.
As the preservation of this historical and archaeological site is a priority, only approximately 250 visitors are allowed per day.
Please note:
- Visitors must be at least 10 years old and will be divided into groups of about 12 participants, based on their spoken language.
- Each group will be guided by one of our professional guides.
- The guided tour lasts one hour. Visitors should be aware that they may experience altered environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, during the tour. Those with specific physical conditions that may worsen under these circumstances, including claustrophobia, are discouraged from taking the tour.
Individual ticket price: €20.00, which includes a guided tour with a professional guide.
Due to the limited number of available entries, no reductions are offered on the ticket price.
Monday – Friday: 9:00 – 16:30 (Last tour at 16:15)
Saturday: 9:00 – 13:00 (Last tour at 12:15)
Closed: Sundays and Vatican Holidays.
The Necropolis is closed until January 15, 2025.
From the opening of the Holy Year until its closure, the Necropolis may experience exceptional closures.
